Prophecies: True or Self-fulfiled? (Not spiritual)

Sometimes we can really predict that something is going to "happen" don't we?

Is it that we really can truely predict, or we tend to react in a way that cause our own prophecies to self-fulfil?

I guess most of the time we self-fulfil our own prophecies and then we nod our heads in pride and say "See?? I told u!"
